Using your own domain
Open /dashboard/organizationBy default your storefront lives at uniformbuilder.io/your-store. With a custom domain it also opens at an address you own, for example shop.yourbrand.com. Visitors only ever see your address: no redirect, no UniformBuilder domain in the address bar, and a full-screen layout on phones instead of an embed.
What you need before you start
A Pro plan, a domain you own, and access to its DNS settings (at your registrar or host: OVH, GoDaddy, Wix Domains, Cloudflare, Google Domains and so on). Use a subdomain such as shop. or configurator.: your main website keeps working exactly as it does now.
Step 1: add the domain
- 1
Open Organization in the dashboard and choose your store.
- 2
Scroll to Custom domain and type the address, for example
shop.yourbrand.com.Type the hostname only. If you paste a full link, the
https://and anything after the domain are removed for you. - 3
Click Add domain.
The domain appears with the status Waiting for DNS and the record to create.
Step 2: create the DNS record
At your DNS provider, add one record using the three values shown in the dashboard. Each value has a copy button.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Typerequired | CNAME |
| Name (or Host)required | The first part of your address. For shop.yourbrand.com that is shop. Some providers want the full shop.yourbrand.com; both mean the same. |
| Target (or Value, Points to)required | customers.uniformbuilder.io |
| TTL | Leave the default, or the shortest your provider offers. |
Proxy switch on Cloudflare
If your own DNS is on Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only (grey cloud), not Proxied. A proxied record on your side stops the certificate from being issued.
Step 3: check and go live
- 1
Wait a few minutes, then click Check status next to the domain.
Most providers publish a new record within 5 to 30 minutes; some take up to 24 hours.
- 2
When the status turns Live, click Open to see your store on your own address.
The HTTPS certificate is issued and renewed automatically. There is nothing to upload.
- 3
Update your links: website menu, social profiles, QR codes and emails can now point at your own address.
What works on your domain
- The whole storefront: products, the 3D designer, quotes and checkout.
- Payment through your own Stripe, Shopify or WooCommerce: after paying, customers come back to your address.
- Customer accounts and the customer dashboard, if your store offers them. Sign-in emails link to your address.
- Saved-design emails link to your address.
- Your UniformBuilder dashboard stays at uniformbuilder.io. It is never served on your domain.
- Your old
uniformbuilder.io/your-storelink keeps working, so nothing you shared before breaks.
Pricing
- Each store can have one custom domain.
- Your account has one free custom domain at a time, included with Pro.
- Each other store with its own domain costs 80 credits every 30 days, taken from your account credits on the day the domain is added and then every 30 days. Your monthly plan credits are used first, then purchased credits.
- Billing stops only when you delete the domain. Turning your store link off does not stop it, and credits already charged are not refunded.
- If you delete your free domain, nothing switches on its own: as the account owner you choose which store gets the free domain, with Make this my free domain on that store. It stops costing credits from that moment.
Can I use my main domain, without `shop.` in front?
Use a subdomain. A bare domain (yourbrand.com) cannot hold a CNAME record at most providers, and pointing it at us would take your main website offline.
The status stays on Waiting for DNS. What should I check?
That the record type is CNAME (not A or TXT), that the name is only the first part of the address, that the target is exactly customers.uniformbuilder.io, and, on Cloudflare, that the record is DNS only. Then click Check status again.
How do I stop using the domain?
Click Remove next to it in Organization > Custom domain, then delete the CNAME record at your DNS provider. Your store stays available at its uniformbuilder.io address.
Can I move the domain to another of my stores?
Remove it from the first store, then add it to the other one. Each store can have one domain.
